Lowercase italic serif for the words; bold sans gradient for the dot. The dot is where light enters and refracts — keep it visible at every scale. Where a single glyph is needed — favicon, avatar, watermark — the cat mark stands in, haloed in the same refracted spectrum.
One lockup, everywhere. In code the wordmark is a single component — .wordmark in site.css (nav.js mirrors it in its own scoped .brand). Never restyle the name ad hoc; paste the markup: <span class="wordmark">aura<span class="dot">.</span>refract</span>

Clearspace · minimum margin
aura.refract
Minimum clearspace on all sides equals the cap-height of the wordmark. Never tighter. Never overlap the dot with other elements — the dot is the refraction point.
02 — Color
Seven bands, one black.
The palette is a spectrum, not a swatch. The seven prism colors are the personality; black and bone are the stage. Use neutrals 80% of the time. Let color enter like light through a prism — focused, not flooded.
Two jobs, one spectrum. The seven bands are the data — the measured aura colors — so they stay full-spectrum wherever a band is named or shown (band cards, the reading, this palette, the wordmark's refraction dot). Ambient / atmospheric light — the hero refraction, social-card fans, background washes — uses the brand tritone: rose · violet · cyan. It reads as spectral and ownable without turning every surface into the full rainbow.

03 — Typography
Serif for soul. Sans for signal. Mono for proof.
Three typefaces, three jobs. The serif carries emotion. The sans carries information. The mono carries credibility — labels, metadata, anything that should feel like a readout.
Instrument Serif
Display · Headlines
Italic by default for headlines. Roman for body display. Use sparingly — the serif is the soul of the brand.

◆ Section
04 — Voice
Confident, lowercase, a little dangerous.
Aura culture is sincere, soft, and a little woo. We sit one step left — same world, sharper edge. We don't explain ourselves. We don't promise outcomes. We refract what's there.
We say
"read your light"
"the lens, not the booth"
"every color is a wavelength"
"refract me"
"you, in seven bands"
We don't say
"discover your true self"
"AI-powered aura technology"
"unlock your spiritual journey"
"vibes & energy 🔮"
"book your session now!"
01
Short
Three-word lines beat ten. The cut is the brand.
02
Lowercase
No caps in body. Capitals reserved for section labels in mono.
03
Refractive
Borrow optics, not astrology. Light, lens, prism, signal, wavelength.
04
Never woo
No emojis, no glitter language, no "manifesting," no fortune-telling. We're the cool one.
04b — Field notes (writing guide)
How we write field notes.
Field notes (the blog) are where the brand voice goes long. Same soul as our micro-copy — honest, human, refractive — but in full sentences and real paragraphs. Think personal essay, not press release. Anyone on the team can write one. Read the two that set the standard: Ashley's "why I built the lens" and the field notes — punchy-honest and warm-reflective both work, as long as they're true.
◆ The throughline
Every note, no matter the topic, lands in the same place: people deserve to be seen, met where they are, and shown their own light — inside and out.
The shape of a note
01
Open honest
Start with a true, slightly vulnerable line — not a thesis. "Here's the honest truth…" / "I've never considered myself creative. Full stop."
02
Tell the story
Back up. Real specifics — names, places, the 2 a.m. idea, the text that lit up. Concrete beats abstract every time.
03
Find the turn
Every note has a moment the story reframes into something bigger — the realization. "Once I connected those dots, everything clicked."
04
Tie it to the light
Land the insight on what we believe — seen, met where they are, their own light. Don't preach it; arrive at it.
05
End forward
Close looking ahead — a destination, an invitation, or a dedication. Then sign it: your name + role.
We write
in first person, honestly
the story before the point
"meet people where they are"
inner light + outer expression
real names — credit generously
short paragraphs, varied rhythm
We avoid
"discover your true self"
claiming spiritual outcomes
press-release / corporate filler
hard CTAs ("sign up now!")
forcing the light metaphor every line
overclaiming — we measure light, not energy
Mechanics
Length: ~600–1,200 words (a 3–6 min read). Say it, then stop.
Person & tense: first person; present or past as the story needs.
Title: lowercase, evocative, often two beats — "why I built the lens.", "your color isn't fixed."
Tag: a short category eyebrow — Founder note, Industry note, Honest answer, Color guide.
Rhythm: vary sentence length; an occasional three-word punch. White space is a feature.
Honesty rule: never promise outcomes or mysticism. If unsure, say less.
Sign-off: "— Name" in mono caps; footer byline = name + role.
Register note: field notes use normal sentence case (the all-lowercase rule is for UI & social micro-copy, not essays).
◆ Before you publish
✓ Is every word true? (No invented scenes, no overclaiming.)
✓ Did I open with something human, not a pitch?
✓ Is there a real turn — a moment it gets bigger?
✓ Does it land on the light without preaching?
✓ Did I credit the people in it?
✓ Does it end forward, and is it signed?
05 — Pattern & texture
Three motifs. All built from refracted light.
The cat is the mark; the prism is the light it refracts. The prism stays the genetic shape of the pattern language — every texture is a derivative of it, outlined, refracted, or scattered. Use sparingly as accent, never as wallpaper.
Prism nest

06 — Applications
How the brand shows up.
A few directions for social, merch, and product-adjacent surfaces. Same DNA: lowercase italics, prism color, generous black.

07b — Audience
Who we're for. And who we run ads to.
We're for people who want a beautiful, honest read on their own light — no booth, no plane ticket, no dogma. In ads we lead with the image and the ten-second promise, then let people self-select into the feeling. We sell the artifact and the ritual, never an outcome.
01
The aesthetic self-expressor
Our core. 18–30, lives on TikTok and Instagram, fluent in astrology-as-aesthetic and "that girl" self-portraiture. Wants a beautiful, shareable thing that says something true about them — and wants it now, for free.
ad angle → "read your light in ten seconds. free."
02
The aura-curious
25–40. Saw the booth Polaroids for years — Radiant Human, Halo, the line down the block — but were priced out, or in the wrong city, on the wrong night. They always wanted one and never got one.
ad angle → "you don't need the booth, the city, or the $40."
03
The soft-spiritual ritualist
Into astrology, tarot, journaling, self-care. We meet them one step left of woo: a small repeatable ritual that's honest about what it is. The light is real even when the mysticism is optional.
ad angle → "a ritual, minus the dogma."
04
Groups, couples & pets
Friend duos, date night, and yes, pets. This is our reach engine — people refract together, compare bands, and post the set. Low intent, high spread.
ad angle → "refract your whole group. compare your light."
05
Brands & venues
Bars, festivals, beauty and fashion brands, dating apps, retail — anyone who wants a shareable, on-brand moment that scales past a single booth and one operator. This is the events/partnerships line.
ad angle → "an aura activation that scales past one booth." (LinkedIn + direct)
Where to reach them
Consumer: TikTok and Instagram Reels/Stories first (image-led, sound-on), then Pinterest for aesthetic search and Snapchat/YouTube Shorts for the youngest skew. Lead organic with real auras; put spend behind the ones that already traveled. B2B: LinkedIn + direct outreach + event partnerships, never the same playful creative as consumer.
Ads we run
image-first — the portrait or Polaroid is the hook
the ten-second, free, in-your-browser promise
real auras people actually refracted (UGC)
the seven-band spectrum as the visual system
one clear CTA: "read your light"
Ads we never run
health, energy, healing, or chakra claims
"diagnose," "transform," before/after promises
fake urgency or scarcity — "book now!"
woo language, glitter emojis, mysticism as fact
anything we couldn't say honestly to a skeptic
Ad-safety rule
keep every claim about light, color, and a portrait — never energy, health, or outcomes. it keeps us honest, and it keeps the ad accounts approved.
Targeting starters
Interests: aura photography · astrology · tarot · Radiant Human · film photography · festivals · self-care
Retarget: opened the lens, didn't share
Lookalikes: people who refracted and shared
08 — Downloads
Grab what you need. Use it well.
Every social size, logo file, and color swatch — ready to drop into a post, deck, or campaign. Right-click → Save, or click the card to download. If you're remixing for a campaign, keep clearspace honored and don't recolor the wordmark dot.
Need the words, not just the images? The social launch kit has bios, hashtags, a posting rhythm, and copy-paste captions for every field note and aura — including the Facebook share method.
The cat-forward mark tinted to each of the seven bands — for color-matched profile pics, reaction icons, or a band takeover. PNG (512×512) + SVG source each.
Profile avatar also ships at 400×400 and 1080×1080 (profile-400.png, profile-1080.png). SVG sources included for the flyer, stories, and aura-of-week.
◆ Field-note kit — post + story per article
One square feed post (1080×1080) and one story (1080×1920) for every field note. Ready-to-paste captions + the Facebook share method live in the social kit → Field note captions.
— Don't recolor the wordmark dot. The violet is the brand.
— Don't add drop shadows, outlines, or strokes to the logo.
— Keep clearspace equal to the cap-height of the wordmark on all sides.
— For pitch decks: pull color hex codes from the swatches above.
— Need a custom size? Ping the design lead before shipping.
09 — Stripe payment assets
For when you set up payments.
Two things live in Stripe. The two paid products (the full reading and the aura portrait) are one-time Prices the app charges through Checkout — set them up once, drop the price IDs in Vercel. The tips are three standalone Payment Links ($3 / $7 / $13). Every product image, title, description, and statement descriptor below is copy-paste ready.
Your complete aura reading — the long version. We refract the light in your photo into a vivid, personal read: your aura's name, its dominant colors, and what it says about where you are right now, in love, and at work. Yours to keep.
A dreamy aura portrait rendered from your photo — your own face, wrapped in a soft, luminous cloud of colored light in the style of a vintage aura-camera print. High-res and ready to share.
Thirteen dollars. Funds a whole event night somewhere. Sends a print to a stranger. Real generous — thanks for being you.

◆ Account setup checklist
Lock the handle @aurarefract on every platform above — even ones you don't plan to actively use. Cost: zero. Squatter prevention: priceless.
Use the same avatar everywhere: apple-touch-icon.png (the cat on black) or android-chrome-512x512.png for higher-res requirements.
Use platform-specific banners from the brand kit downloads: social-twitter-header.png for X, social-linkedin-banner.png for LinkedIn, og-square.png for IG/LinkedIn highlight covers.
Pinned post on every platform: the OG image + the line "read your light → aura.refractventures.co" + the latest field note link.
Link-in-bio everywhere: aura.refractventures.co/reader — sends people straight to the camera, not the homepage. Fewer clicks, more conversions.
11 — Meet the team
People follow people.
The lens is the product, but the team is the story. These "meet the team" posts introduce us one human at a time, so followers feel like they know us before they ever book. Everyone here matters and everyone has a story worth telling — write your own, or send Ashley three honest facts and she'll tell it for you. Pair each with an aura-lit portrait and the band that fits their energy.
◆ How to tell a story that actually lands
Hook — one line that stops the scroll: a surprising fact, a question, or a confession. Not "Meet Jacey, our social lead."
Who — name, what they do, and one human detail (a hobby, a hometown, a quirk).
Their light — the why. What lights them up, what they believe, what they're here to do. Tie it back to aura: everyone has a color.
A real moment — one specific, true detail beats ten adjectives. The smaller and realer, the better.
What they bring — why aura is better because they're on it.
Invite — end warm: "say hi 👇", "drop your aura", or "welcome [name] to the spectrum."
Post caption — fill in the blanks
meet [name].
[hook — the surprising, human thing].
[name] is our [role]. [one true detail — what they're like off the clock].
what lights them up: [their why, ideally in their own words].
the moment we knew: [one specific, real story].
aura runs on people like this. their band? [color] — [one word why].
say hi 👇 — and read your own light while you're here.
Story version — 4 frames
Frame 1 — portrait + name + role, big text, aura glow behind.
Frame 2 — the hook, as text on the photo.
Frame 3 — their "light" quote + a question sticker so followers can ask them something.
Frame 4 — their aura band + "welcome [name] 🤍" + the "drop your aura" poll/link sticker.
Starting angles, per person
A thread to pull — replace with their real story, or hand it to Ashley to write.
Kim — CEO. the operator who's built before; why she bet on light.
Ashley — founder. the "why I built the lens" origin (ties to the field note).
Jacey — social & QA. the eye that keeps us real; the detail no one else catches.
Jordan — accounting & social. keeps the lights on and the calendar full; the numbers mind who's secretly creative.
Demi — creative & events. the room-maker; what a great pop-up actually feels like.
Jason — creative & film. sees the shot before it happens; the b-roll brain.
Paul — advisor, photography. the craft conscience; decades of reading light.
Troy — advisor, marketing. the growth head; why aura spreads.
◆ Rollout
One per week — a recurring "meet the team" slot keeps faces in the feed without crowding the auras.
Lead with the founders (Ashley, Kim), then the doers, then the advisors.
Always tag the person, pin their favorite comment, and save it to a "the team 🌈" story highlight.
No photo yet? Use an aura-lit portrait from the kit, or grab one at the next shoot (Demi / Jason).
